Challenge


A private equity-backed beverage company, with products in 50,000+ retail stores nationwide, needed a dedicated logistics partner that was capable of managing a mid- to large-scale supply chain. Its current 3PL was underdelivering – creating hefty back logs, product mishandling and low in-stocks. These concerns, coupled with inbound and outbound capacity constraints caused by the onslaught of the pandemic, led the company to search for a seasoned 3PL partner with the expertise to deliver.

Solution


After learning about RJW’s retail logistics experience, OTIF performance record, and approach to customer commitment, the company selected RJW Logistics Group as its new 3PL partner. With products in over 50,000 stores across the country, the company immediately enrolled in RJW’s Retail Consolidation Program to take advantage of shared truckloads to DCs, resulting in decreased transportation costs, increased in-stock levels and improved OTIF performance. Beyond consolidation, the company also leveraged RJW’s Comprehensive Logistics Services for its high velocity beverage brands – which account for more than 80% of its primary business. Within just weeks, they saw significant scorecard improvement.

RJW’s unique Multi-day Review Process for all Walmart Distribution Centers drove additional benefits. Unlike other 3PLs who conduct once weekly reviews, RJW reviews Walmart orders 2-5 times per week, offering more opportunities for suppliers to generate a retailer order based on their volume. This creates a more consistent flow of product to the retailer’s shelves, which for the beverage company, translated into increased sales and line extensions. With the Multi-Day review model, RJW has been able to scale alongside the beverage company, keeping up with its growth and maintaining the same service levels.
